Sunday morning June 7

John is currently having dialysis. His kidneys are working however they aren't filtering enough of the acids and other toxins from his blood. He had a restful night and was comfortable throughout. This morning he seemed to be frowning so Holly thought maybe there was too much noise in the room. We have been keeping the television on or the radio on to help him pass the time and to let him know that he is not by himself. The physicians expect to do a catscan on his brain and heart and an EKG on his heart to see what is going on. Up to this point, he hasn't been stable enough to take for a catscan but he is more medically stable now so they feel that he can be moved without it causing too much of a problem. His hospital room overlooks a duck pond so we have been keeping the windows open. For those of you who don't know this, John feeds all of the animals in he and Holly's neighborhood. At any given time, there are ducks, birds, bunnies and even coyotes who rely on John for a good meal and we have been putting out food each day but the animals even seem to recognize that I am an impostor. Yesterday as I was leaving their house a whistling duck flew over my head and honked at me! There is one wild bunny in particular that waits to be fed in the front yard. We know John has touched so many people but his love for animals never ceases to amaze me. If I were a stray dog, I would want to cross John's path because I know that within minutes I would be bathed, have an excellent meal and probably be sleeping in a comfy bed.
