Saturday Morning - June 6

We arrived this morning and John's eyes looked brighter and he seemed to be looking right at us when we talked to him. Although he does not respond to commands, we were heartened by his pretty eyes looking back at us! This morning the physicians are removing the pump from his heart. To sort of explain...there is a tiny pump which fits inside the femoral IV line and goes up near his heart. This is the worlds smallest heart pump and turns at 40,000 rotations per minute! John has not needed this pump for several days now as his heart is beating all by itself and holding a great rhythm so they are going to take it out. They will administer a local anesthetic however surgeons are standing by to make sure that there aren't complications. Over the next couple of days, the plan is to remove as many of the tubes going into his body as possible. This is a methodical process and they want to make sure John is stable throughout.

Holly has asked for everyone to please pray for the healing of John's brain and his overall health.

  4. Melanie,
What a beautiful blog. I am so sorry to have to have it due to such circumstances. I am praying for you all! You know I have known John since 6th grade (like most of us) and really got the first blog about how Holly thought John was just joking around. He can pull through this I know he can...prayers and nothing but positive thoughts.
