John had a cat scan this morning and we are waiting to talk to the neurologist this afternoon to find out about the results.
In other big news, the pulmonary doctor just removed the John's breathing tube! It is nice to see John's mouth and we are sure hoping he will be able to talk to us soon. We are hopeful that he will continue to breathe well on his own and not have to be intubated again. We have been cautioned to remember that the process of weaning him off of life sustaining medications and contraptions is a tricky one. We are happiest about the breathing tube because it seemed to be causing him discomfort and at times it seemed to be gagging him or choking him. This morning before it was removed he was very uncomfortable and was clenching his fists and visibly upset. He seems calmer and more restful since the tube was removed and we are looking forward to meeting with the neurology specialist this afternoon.
Thanks to everyone who is keeping tabs on John. The pastors from his church came in to pray with him this morning and we all appreciate everyone's support and prayers.

Keep fighting John! We are praying for 110% recovery.
ReplyDeletecom'n "lighting"...John and I umpired a few games together. At times, he'd do the plate, and was supposed to be at second covering that bag when I went out to cover a fly ball to the outfield...I'd look around, he'd still be at home plate. he swore that he made to second and back to home before I knew it...thus, I nick-named him "lighting" for his lightning speed at covering the bases.
ReplyDeleteI say my prayers daily for John...he's strong...he'll fight this!
John you are in all my prayers daily. May the Lord watch over you and keep you safe. May he give you the strength to pull through this so you can come give us a hard time again. We love you and miss you!!!
